Eligible Borrowers
(Who Can Use Interloan?)

Farmington Community Library (FCL) Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests may be placed by patrons who live, work, or go to school in Farmington/Farmington Hills with accounts in good standing:

• No overdue materials
  
  
• Fines below $15
  
  
• Patron information must be current

Borrowing Policies

• To request materials through Interlibrary Loan follow the instructions here: Search for Items Not in Our Catalog
  
  
• ILL requests can be placed on items FCL does not own and were published more than 6 months ago.
  
  
• If FCL owns the material but it is checked out, a hold will be placed on the FCL copy.
  
  
• Conditions of use (i.e. in-library use only) are determined by the lending library.
  
  
• The loan period for print ILL materials is 3 weeks.
  
  
• The loan period for ILL media is 1 week.
  
  
• Delivery cannot be guaranteed and may take several weeks.

Check Outs

• ILLs will be held at the Circulation Desk of the FCL pick-up branch selected by the patron.
  
  
• Patrons will be given 10 days to pick up ILLs.
  
  
• ILLs requested and not picked up may result in a temporary suspension of interloan privileges.
  
  
• Conditions of use (i.e. in-library use only) are determined by the lending library.
  
  
• The loan period for print ILL materials is 3 weeks.
  
  
• The loan period for ILL media is 1 week.
  
  
• Delivery cannot be guaranteed and may take several weeks.

Renewals

• Request renewals 2–3 days in advance of the due date by calling (248) 553•0300 ex. 343, or stopping by the Information Desk at either Branch.
  
  
• Due dates are at the discretion of the lender.
  
  
• Print ILLs may have the option of 1 three-week renewal.
  
  
• Media can not be renewed.
  
  
• If the renewal is DENIED, the patron will be contacted and expected to return the ILL within 2 days.
  
  

Returns

• ILLs must be returned to the Circulation Desk where checked out.
  
  
• ILLs must be returned with paperwork attached.
  
  
• ILLs returned late, returned in a drop box or with missing or damaged paperwork may result in a temporary suspension of interloan privileges.
